required for renewal. Audits for compliance with continuing competency requirements and actions regarding noncompliance will be conducted. Section 2: Responsibilities of Licensees Responsibilities include certifying completion of continuing competency activities required by this rule at the time of license or certification renewal. Licensees must retain verification of completion of continuing competency activities required by this rule for 3 years after the last renewal date and be able to present proof of completion of continuing competency activities required at the request of the committee in a format that is verifiable by the committee. Section 3: License or Certification Period; Number of Hours Required During each 2 year license period, a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant must complete at least 22 hours of continuing competency activities of which at least 10 hours must be in category I courses and 2 hours must be in an ethics and Indiana jurisprudence course as it relates to the practice of physical therapy . A physical therapist or physical therapist assistant may not earn more than 10 category II credit hours toward the requirements under this section. Category 1 : includes formally organized courses, workshops, seminars, symposia, home study programs designed by committee-approved organizations, approved for credit courses related to the practice of physical therapy. Category 2 : includes professional research/ writing, teaching as an adjunct at an accredited PT or PTA program, participation as a presenter in an approved workshop, continuing education course, seminar or symposium, supervision of a physical therapy or physical therapy assistant student, in house or in service seminars, active participation with professional organizations, certification of a clinical specialization or advanced proficiency, attendance at state or district APTA meetings and other scholarly or education activities.
