• Teeth grinding • Ear pain • Limited ROM • Chronic misalignment of cervical vertebrae Treatment: • Trigger point therapy • Identify triggers (checking gum, tough foods) • Heat and cold application • Physical therapy • Medications ○ NSAIDs Accommodations: • Intraoral work successful with proper training Considerations/Differential Diagnoses: • Ernest Syndrome- sprain of ligament ○ Anti-inflammatory ○ Muscle relaxants • Osteomyelitis • Infected tooth Vertigo Definition: A feeling of off balance/spinning Pathophysiology: • CN VIII relays information about balance and orientation • Changes in vestibulocochlear nerve • Indication of another condition ○ Meniere’s Disease ○ Neuritis Signs and Symptoms: • Sensations of spinning • Swaying • Tilting • Pulled to one direction • N/V • Nystagmus • HA • Sweating • Ringing in the ears • Tingling in hands and feet • Trigeminal neuralgia • Occipital neuralgia

Accommodations: • Treat thoroughly Considerations: • Be mindful of patient/client getting on and off table or rolling over • Minimize postural changes to avoid triggering attack Tinnitus Definition: Ringing in the ears Pathophysiology: • Prolonged exposure to loud sounds causing damage to the cochlea in the inner ear • Wax build up, ear infections, tumors • Neck and jaw issues, TMJD, migraines • Associated with hearing loss Signs and Symptoms: • Various sounds in the ear • Often worse when background noise is low • Difficulty concentrating or sleeping Treatment: • Trigger point therapy • Remove ear wax • Hearing aid • Sound dampener • Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT): combination of therapy and behavioral cognitive therapy • Changing medications • Surgery Accommodations: • Treat thoroughly • White noise machines or music; something to take over constant sounds
