THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE REQUIREMENT FOR DRUG DISPENSING Chapter 1: Dispensing Veterinary Prescription Drugs: An Overview (Mandatory)

[1 CE hour] This course fulfills Florida’s requirement for one hour of continuing professional education in the area of dispensing prescription drugs. After completing this course, veterinarians will have renewed familiarity with the rules and regulations surrounding prescription drug dispensing, including recent changes related to the prescribing of compounded drugs. THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE REQUIREMENT FOR LAWS AND RULES GOVERNING VETERINARY MEDICINE Chapter 2: Florida Laws and Rules: Veterinary Practice (Mandatory) 7 [2 CE hours] To remain current on the scope of practice for veterinarians, it is essential that they be updated on new rules being passed or introduced. This course will review Florida’s rules on these matters, as well as the new acts recently enacted in the last few years. As a licensed veterinarian, it is imperative to be judicious in understanding the laws and rules governing the profession. This course will review the recently adopted rules, rule changes or amendments that, in [2 CE hours] This course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of veterinarians in small animal anesthesia. Important topics will be explored including anesthetic drug pharmacology, their effects, contraindications, and potential adverse reactions. The course will also provide a comprehensive understanding of pre-operative medication, induction, maintenance, and pain management techniques specifically tailored for small animal patients. Chapter 4: Canine Influenza, 2nd Edition 35 [2 CE hours] particular, impact the profession and the practice of veterinary medicine. Chapter 3: Anesthesia Management and Care for Small Animals 21 This course is intended to educate general practice veterinarians about canine influenza. The course will highlight background information on influenza viruses in general, before focusing exclusively on canine influenza. Topics to cover include transmission, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, and preventative strategies (including vaccination). Chapter 5: Canine Tick Borne Disease: Big Ailments Can Arrive in Small Packages 44 [1 CE hour] This course is designed to provide veterinarians with an in-depth understanding and up-to-date information about canine tick-borne diseases. The prevalence, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various tick-borne illnesses that affect dogs will be thoroughly discussed. Topics covered include Lyme disease, tick paralysis, canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME), Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF), and emerging tick-borne pathogens. Chapter 6: Diagnosis and Treatment of Feline Inappropriate Elimination 51 [3 CE hours] Inappropriate elimination can often be resolved with early intervention by finding the underlying problem, if it is a behavioral issues then there are ways to correct this behavior. Chapter 7: Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, 2nd Edition 60 [2 CE hours] This course is intended for veterinarians in general practice and the animal shelter setting. This course provides a comprehensive overview of feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), including recent updates from the American Association of Feline Practitioners’ 2020 FeLV/FIV management guidelines. Chapter 8: Pet Obesity: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention 69 [1 CE hour] Obesity is a growing medical concern in humans, and our pets are similarly affected. Obesity is associated with numerous comorbidities, with impacts on both lifespan and quality of life. This course will discuss common causes of pet obesity and explore potential treatments for this condition. Diseases that contribute to and result from obesity will also be discussed. To address obesity, veterinarians must be able to clearly educate pet owners about the impacts of obesity, partner with owners to develop a treatment plan, and provide follow-up to help clients achieve their goals. Chapter 9: Veterinary Dentistry: Basic Practical Guidebook of a Thorough Oral Examination, 2nd Edition [1 CE hour] This course is intended for all small animal general practice veterinarians, especially those who are recent veterinary school graduates or new to small animal general practice. This course provides an introduction to practical veterinary dentistry. It outlines the importance of veterinary dentistry within the context of preventive care, clarifies terminology required for accurate charting, and highlights basic aspects of a thorough oral health examination.
