Other shots (not considered desirable shots) Contact: • Top : Club barely contacts top part of ball with a lot of top spin and will skim along ground • Thin : Slightly more contact compared to a top shot, lower loft and higher top spin • Fat : More than desirable contact with the ground than a typical shot • Chunk : Mostly make contact with ground— typically happens when you make contact further behind the ball than at the ball. This can happen with decreased rotation and poor weight transition • Shank : Hit ball off club face and hit it on the hosel (see below) of the club Lie (Ball at Rest): • Tight : Minimal grass • Fluffy : Sitting up on tall grass • Buried : Stuck in the ground or in sand in a bunker • Uphill/downhill : Hitting up or down hill, respective Course Difficulty It is important to know course difficulty of the clients: • Course rating (upper 60s to mid 70s) : Best for people who are shooting around par/ low handicap (1-9) • Course slope (55 to 155) : Easier to harder
