Successful completion of the course equips massage therapists with the basic concepts and rationale for ethical decision-making in their practice, to help them navigate unknown ethical territory, identify questionable behavior, and identify “red flags” that signal potential conflict, as well as the steps involved in resolving these issues. THIS COURSE MEETS YOUR SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION REQUIREMENT Chapter 3: Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace for Illinois Professionals, 2nd edition (Mandatory) 37 [1 CE hour] This basic-level course will help Illinois Healthcare professionals identify sexual harassment in the workplace, prevent it, and take appropriate action if it occurs. Chapter 4: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Comprehensive Guide for Manual Therapists 47 [2 CE hours] This course provides a comprehensive overview of carpal tunnel syndrome for massage therapists. This overview allows the reader to gain greater knowledge of anatomy, perspectives on how carpal tunnel syndrome affects individuals, as well as specific bodywork methods to alleviate classic symptoms of the condition. Chapter 5: Pharmacology for Therapists: Common Gastrointestinal and Pain Conditions 62 [4 CE hours] This course will review the interactions between therapeutic massage and certain medications, taking a closer look at common gastrointestinal (GI) and pain pathologies and the medications used to treat them. This course will help manual therapists develop a safe and effective treatment plan by identifying which medications are used to treat these common pathologies. Having a broader understanding of common symptoms and side effects of these medications will help therapists provide a more informed and effective treatment session. Chapter 6: Understanding Plantar Fasciitis: A Multidisciplinary Approach 79 [2 CE hours] The purpose of this course is to identify what plantar fasciitis is and what methods we can use to treat it in our clients. We will examine the anatomy of the plantar fascia, its role in the movement of the foot and ankle, and what happens when it becomes inflamed. We will also examine techniques that can be used to treat it when our clients present with either acute or chronic plantar fasciitis, as well as some self-care tools they can use at home.
