UTAH PHYSICIAN
UTAH CME REQUIREMENT
Dear Colleagues,
Beginning with the licensing period after January 1, 2026, any individual who holds a controlled substance license is required under Subsection 58-37-6.5(2) to complete at least four continuing education hours per licensing period. A controlled substance prescriber shall complete at least 3.5 credit hours in one or more controlled substance prescribing courses and 0.5 credit hour by completing the online DOPL tutorial. These hours must be earned in the current renewal cycle and may be counted toward your overall required CME hours. The enclosed Utah Medical Licensure Program is designed to fulfill these mandatory CME requirements for medical professionals in Utah, as well as earning points for MOC and MIPS. Completion of this program satisfies 6 credit hours on controlled substances as well as 5 elective hours on burnout in physicians.
