PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT IN MEDICINE 21 MANDATORY 3 CE HOURS $30.00 COURSE CODE: MDNJ03PB SATISFIES THE REQUIREMENT ON SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PREVENTION The medical profession has long recognized the importance of maintaining professional boundaries in order to ensure the integrity of the physician-patient relationship, foster interprofessional collaborations, and maintain the trust of the healthcare system. However, defining these boundaries can be challenging, as they are influenced by a variety of factors, including cultural norms, personal beliefs, and organizational policies. This course will explore the concept of professional boundaries in the context of physician-patient relationships, the implications of blurred boundaries, examples of boundary violations, and strategies for maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. AI IN HEALTH CARE 35 ELECTIVE 3 CE HOURS $30.00 COURSE CODE: MDNJ03AI Artificial intelligence (AI) is a buzzword and is considered the “big thing” in health care. It is touted as holding tremendous promise in health and mental healthcare systems. In general, many healthcare and mental health professionals are not familiar with AI, are distrustful of AI, or may be skeptical of its application in health and mental health care. The purpose of the course is to familiarize participants with AI and its potential applications in health and mental health care. The merits and limitations of AI will be reviewed as well as factors that will aid in facilitating and impeding the integration of AI in service delivery. Ethical concerns will be reviewed as well. MATERNAL HEALTH DISPARITIES 44 ELECTIVE 4 CE HOURS $40.00 COURSE CODE: MDNJ04MH There is no question that maternal health disparities are a significant problem in the United States. Inequalities have been noted associated with many factors, including education level, literacy, and socioeconomic status. However, the greatest disparities have been noted among racial/ethnic minority women and have been linked to explicit and implicit biases in healthcare providers and systems. It is of the utmost importance that those working in health care and caring for patients in the peripartum and postpartum period are committed on lowering the morbidity and mortality rates of all mothers of color. Promoting equity and cultural competence, effectively addressing modifiable risk factors, improving communication and monitoring, and engaging in regular training are needed to improve these maternal health disparities.
